Top 3 Student Programs I Wish I Would Have Known About Sooner

With the semester just starting, I figured what better way to kick off your new life chapter than to discuss all the perks that come with being a college student! (Yes, I promise there are a few). We all know that college can be expensive. In addition to housing and tuition costs, we have to buy our own groceries, decorations, supplies, everything. All that adds up quick and you're stuck eating Ramen Noodles for two weeks until you get paid (that is if you are even working while going to school). Thankfully, we live in a time where we have access to the world of life hacks right at our fingertips, and of those life hacks are some pretty awesome deals for students.
The first deal I absolutely love and encourage all students to take advantage of is Amazon Prime for students. Prime for students is FREE for the first 6 months then is only half the normal price for a prime membership, which is $50 a year. I know that sounds like a lot but that’s just over $4 a month. This includes the cheap textbook rentals (never use your school’s bookstore, they are WAYYYYYY overpriced) cheap everyday items that save you a trip to the store, two-day shipping, and not to mention Amazon's streaming service! Trust me, the two-day shipping definitely comes in handy when you procrastinate buying your textbooks.

The next deal I would recommend taking advantage of is Spotify’s student deal. Spotify offers students 50% off their premium plan AND it includes a Hulu membership and access to Showtime, all for only $5 a month. No ads to interrupt your music, a new variety of shows when you’ve watched just about everything on Netflix. Now all you need is a bowl of ice cream and you’ve got a pretty great night in if you ask me.

The last set of cool programs offered for students can be found right in the app store. Student Beans and Unidays are apps that give college students coupons for popular businesses and brands ranging from clothing, beauty, food, and everything in between. The app Pocket Points is similar to the previous apps; however, it gives you the opportunity to earn free stuff (yes you heard me right… FREE STUFF), all for not being on your phone during class. You can also earn points for not checking your phone while studying or even driving. The free items include Redbox rentals, food from places near you, as well as more coupons to other online companies.

These apps have been very helpful in allowing me to treat myself when I’ve had a hard day or passed an exam I studied extra hard for, or even just maintain my lifestyle without breaking the bank. Who says no to saving money? Even rapper Lil Dicky wants to save that money. Student deals are everywhere you look, so get out there and try them!
