Is Anyone Real Anymore?

As I’ve mentioned before, it can be hard to find what’s real on social media nowadays. Even simple lifestyle pictures you see are often staged. See a cute family making breakfast together? Probably staged. I mean come on, who looks that put together at 8 am with 2 kids, making a huge meal with NO MESS? Nope. Not likely. Don’t let this ruin social media for you though. You can still enjoy these images that these creators put together because they still are beautiful, don’t get me wrong. Just don’t let these become your standards for your life.

I’m not the first blog to talk about the imperfections of reality, nor will I be the last. There are a couple of people that I currently follow that embrace their own flaws and bring some humor to it.

The first person I love is GraceFitUK. Yes, she is technically an influencer, posting and promoting brands, yes she works out, yes she has her own brand, but she knows she isn’t perfect. She embraces her cellulite, she doesn’t push herself to workout every single day, and she even links her outfits for everyone to find. She even manages her business while attending college. I think that says a lot.

The next person I love is Indy Blue, and by love, I mean most of the time I love her. Let's start with the not so good first. Indy and her friends definitely live the dream and they know it. A lot of people know it, hence why they have such a large following. They have a lot of side businesses like a videography/photography tips course, jewelry, and now clothing. Sometimes it can feel as if they are shoving down your throat, but hey. Gotta respect the hustle. With that being said, I still love seeing their posts. One of my absolute favorite things is that although Indy travels a lot, she’s real about how much it costs and how difficult it can be. She finds good deals and isn’t afraid to share them with her fans. Who knew insta-famous people still like to find bargains?!

Your biggest priority should be to protect your vibe, your confidence, your motivation, and quite simply, you. Add daily reminders to help you not focus on others like this one I found on Pinterest. It may sound silly, but add a daily reminder as your lock screen. That way when you go to check social media, you'll remember to not look too closely at other people's life.

There are many others out there that are doing similar things, it just takes some effort to find them. It’s also okay to follow those who may not talk about flaws and reality. Just remember to love yourself and the life you live, and don’t let those lifestyles become the standard.
